In tribute to Women’s History Month, three things womanhood has taught me.

Being a woman can be exhausting and rewarding at the same time. Societal and sometimes cultural expectations can weigh heavily on our backs, but at the same time, there is no other feeling that could beat the joy of bringing life into the world.

Womanhood has taught me a great deal but here are 3 things that have stood out the most:

1. Inner strength

Women may not be physically strong, but our inner strength is second to none. Even when we feel weak, we still find the strength to do what needs to be done. When life throws us lemons, we make lemonade out of them.

Our ability to turn the bad into something good is impeccable. I can’t tell you where this strength comes from or how we acquire it, but I can tell you that it’s there when we need it.

Maybe it’s innate in us because we survive childbirth or extremely severe period pains; either way, women are the true superheroes of life.

2. Keep things together

As women, we are often spinning many plates at once and when you have children there are twice as many. How we manage to take care of children, households, work, school, and our own self-care is incredible.

Women are usually the glue that holds families and things together, without them it all falls apart like a house of cards. So a round of applause to all the superwomen out there that are keeping things together, you’re appreciated.

3. Formidable

When a woman has decided to fight for a cause that affects or has affected her loved ones above all, she can be a force to be reckoned with. We’ll do whatever it takes, no matter how long it takes, to make our voices heard and initiate change.

If that means studying to learn more about the issue, we’ll do it. If it means working overtime to fund the cause, we’ll do it. If it means getting in front of the right people, we’ll find a way to do it.

Even if there are setbacks, sleepless nights, and tears, we’ll push through to get the results we want.

I’m sure we can all think of women in history, maybe even in our own families, who have brought about change through their steadfastness. Rosa Parks, for example!

So, to all the brave, bold, and beautiful women around the world, Happy Women’s Month!

And with that, I’ll leave you with this:

Women do a lot often with no recognition. So go ahead girl pamper yourself and relax your cognition!
